The problem

Chasing money is the worst part of the job.

You did the work. Now you're drafting the third "just following up" email and wondering how firm you can be without losing the client. PaidUp does the chasing for you (politely, on schedule and in your name) so the awkward part isn't yours any more.

A polite, persistent three-step chase.

Each message is written for the channel (short on WhatsApp, a proper email by email) and gets firmer only as the invoice gets older. There are always at least six days between messages.

1
1 day overdue · a friendly reminder
"Hi Sam, a friendly reminder from Northside Studio that £1,850 (invoice INV-0142) is now overdue. It may simply have slipped through. When you have a moment, could you arrange payment? Thank you!"
2
7 days overdue · a firm follow-up
"Hi Sam, following up from Northside Studio on £1,850 (invoice INV-0142), now 7 days overdue. Could you let us know when we can expect payment, or reply if anything's holding it up?"
3
21 days overdue · a final notice
"Hi Sam, this is a final notice from Northside Studio regarding £1,850 (invoice INV-0142), now 21 days overdue. Please arrange payment to avoid further steps. If you've already paid, reply PAID and we'll close it off."

Paid · the chase stops
The moment the invoice shows as paid, nothing else goes out. If your invoice has a payment link, the message points to it.

Examples with a made-up business. Change the 1 / 7 / 21 days to suit your terms.

It reads the reply. It doesn't just keep sending.

Most reminder tools send on a timer whatever happens. When a customer replies to PaidUp on WhatsApp or by text, it acts on what they said.

"I've already paid"

Reminders pause for five days and you get a task to check it against your records. It never marks an invoice paid on someone's word alone.

"This is wrong"

A dispute stops the chase on that invoice and is passed to you to sort out, no more reminders on a bill they're querying.

"Can I pay next week?"

They get a few days' grace and a thank-you, then the chase picks up again if it's still outstanding.

"STOP"

Honoured straight away: no more reminders to that number by WhatsApp or text.

No data entry

It reads your invoices for you.

Connect your accounts and PaidUp picks up what's overdue, who owes it and how to reach them, so it chases the right amount without you re-typing anything.

You stay in charge of every chase.

One pause switch

Stop all chasing at once (a sensitive month, a key client, a mistake in the books) and start again when you're ready.

Stops the moment it's paid

Every invoice is checked again just before a message goes out, so a payment that lands mid-morning never gets one more reminder.

Every message logged

What it brought in

Your monthly summary shows how many chases went out and how much was paid after a chase.

What UK law lets you add to a late invoice.

If both you and your customer are businesses, the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act lets you charge interest and a fixed recovery sum on a late invoice, unless your contract already sets its own late-payment interest rate. It doesn't apply when your customer is a private individual.

When is an invoice late?On the date you agreed. If you never agreed one, 30 days after the customer gets the invoice (or after you deliver, if that's later).
Statutory interest8% a year above the Bank of England base rate. For debts that fall due July–December the base rate on 30 June is used, and for January–June the rate on 31 December. Bank Rate was 3.75% on 30 June 2026, so it's 11.75% a year for debts falling due July–December 2026.
Fixed recovery sum£40 on a debt up to £999.99 · £70 on £1,000–£9,999.99 · £100 on £10,000 or more. Once per invoice, plus reasonable recovery costs on top.

Worked example. A £2,400 invoice to another business is paid 30 days late.

Interest: £2,400 × 11.75% = £282 a year, ÷ 365 = 77p a day, × 30 days = £23.18. Fixed sum for a £1,000–£9,999.99 debt: £70. Total you could add: £93.18.

PaidUp's part: it chases the invoice you issued. It doesn't add interest or fees for you. Whether to claim them, and how you put it to a client, is your call.

The Commercial Payments Bill: what's coming

The government introduced a Bill on late payment in the House of Lords on 19 May 2026. As of 1 October 2026 it is at third reading in the Lords and still has to go through the Commons, so none of this is law yet and no start date has been set. As introduced, it would:

Common questions

What is PaidUp?

PaidUp is Remi's invoice chasing software for UK businesses. It reads your overdue invoices from Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, a Google Sheet or a CSV, chases each one by WhatsApp and email on a three-step schedule, and stops when it's paid. It costs £19 a month, with your first week free.

Will automatic reminders upset my clients?

The first message assumes it's an oversight, and they only get firmer as the invoice gets older, with at least six days between messages. Replies are acted on: a dispute stops the chase, "I've paid" pauses it while you check, and STOP is honoured straight away.

Which accounting software does it work with?

Xero, QuickBooks and Sage connect directly. You can also use a Google Sheet or upload a CSV of invoices.

Can I charge interest on a late invoice in the UK?

If both you and your customer are businesses, yes, unless your contract sets its own rate: statutory interest of 8% above the Bank of England base rate (11.75% a year for debts falling due July–December 2026), plus a fixed sum of £40, £70 or £100 depending on the size of the debt. PaidUp doesn't add these for you; whether to claim them is your decision.

Does it chase private clients as well as businesses?

Yes. PaidUp chases any overdue invoice that has a phone number or email address. The late-payment interest rules only apply between businesses, though.

What does PaidUp cost?

£19 a month on its own, with your first week free. It's also built into Remi · Complete (£329 a month), and can be added to any Remi plan.
